David Katz is a Managing Director at RPN. Drawing on his experience as a registered patent attorney who practiced in Canada, the U.S., and Israel, David now applies his strategic mindset and people-centered approach to helping firms and candidates build strong, lasting professional relationships. He thrives on understanding the unique goals of candidates and clients alike, and creating matches that allow both to succeed and grow.

 

Prior to becoming a recruiter, David practiced patent law in Canada, the U.S., and Israel, where he worked on matters ranging from high-stakes pharmaceutical patent litigation to drafting and prosecuting cutting-edge technology patents for startups and multinational corporations. He is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and previously worked as a software developer at a Fortune 500 technology company, giving him a rare combination of technical, legal, and people-focused skills. This experience allows him to deeply understand the needs of clients across industries and to guide candidates thoughtfully through each stage of their search.

 

David earned his J.D. from the University of Toronto after beginning his career in software engineering. His background gives him a unique ability to connect with professionals navigating career transitions, as he has successfully made them himself.

 

Outside of work, David enjoys traveling, being outdoors, scuba diving, and helping his wife raise their five children. He currently resides in Cleveland but dreams of one day moving to sunny Florida.
